I just concluded a purchase at Victory Motorcycles of Long Island, Northport New York. I have to say it was the best experience I ever had buying a motorcycle. The best price I could find, no pressure, no lies and no BS. They sell Victory, Viper & Independence cruisers and choppers. My friend recommended me since he bought and has serviced his Victory Kingpin there. Everybody is real normal there. No Harley Davidson attitudes.

Eastern Motor Sports
New York/Long Island
The worst dealer I ever dealt with In New York/Long Island The dealers Name Eastern Motor Sports. The owner Michael Crocitto a wana be in the motorcycle industry is the biggest jerk I ever met in my entire life.He took over the dealership from a legend by the name of jack o`maley whose shoes in his wildest dreams will NEVER be able to fit in! The biggest jackass I ever met in my entire life thinks he knows how to run a business but will soon find out that he has no clue. Therefor will have a short run in the motorcycle industry and will have to go back to whatever he thinks he is capable of doing.Take it from me a seasoned motorcycle professional that you should not bother stopping in his dealership to check the air in your tires. Because he couldn't even do that right.

This dealership is horrible, I went in there a couple of months ago to purchase a Ducati supersport 750. The place was empty and none came out to help me until I stood at the counter while the sales persons were busy talking away in their private conversation. the sales person was an old man with a bad attitude (and i dont mean a cool bad attitude), this guy was pissed because he acctualy had to do work, he was unhelpfull did not know what bikes where in stock and was very rude when I asked what kind of financing they had. I just left and bought the bike online without a problem.
Another friend of mine had a 996 that needed some work (I dont know what exactly) he went into that same dealer and they drove him crazy, and overcharged him. To make a story short the problem was not fixed and he had to go to a queens dealer and it was a simple part the only cost $40. Please avoid this dealer at all cost...

I've never purchased a bike there, but I've been told by "people in the business" that parts and service is the bread and butter of most motorsports shops. During the rehab of two Kawasaki EX500's, I went in to get a bunch of Kawasaki parts. I probably spent $500 between two trips. I had to practially beg these guys to let me spend my money there. The parts guy stood in the
door of the backroom staring stright at me and my list of stuff. There was not another customer in the shop and it took me almost 1.5-hours to order a list of things for which I had part numbers, quantities, the whole schmere all written down for him. The other guys in the shop were generally rude. I come to find out, well after the fact, that EVERYONE in that area has horror stories about that place, even ones who have purchased new toys from them. Don't go. It's not worth it.

Conklin Cycle Center - Suzuki, Yamaha, Kawasaki (Honda may be in there as well)

This is a GREAT dealer!! A few years ago, I had my 1990 GS500E tuned up at a local bike shop here in MA to head out on a trip to upstate NY to visit friends. While on route, oil started spewing out of the bikes head. Since I was too far from the shop to take it back, I just rode the bike (frequently checking oil levels) towards my destination: Binghamton NY. The bike made it fine even though my right leg was drenched in oil. Next morning, I looked in the local yellow pages and spied Conklin Cycle Center. I called them immediately, explained my situation, and their response was something like: "no problems. We are busy since it is a saturday, but we'll be sure to take care of you right away". So, I headed to the shop, and before I could even dismount the bike practically, someone was waiting to greet me and welcomed me into their back service bay for mechanics to take a look at the problems. This guy then took the time to introduce me to each of the mechanics personally with handshakes, first names, and all. whoa! where on earth do you get that kind of treatment?? Very different.
These guys from the get go were awesome. They took a look at the problem and found the oil leak was caused from a stripped valve cover bolt that was not helicoiled back in place properly but simply "duct taped" there. In addition, the "used" valve cover gasket was siliconed into the cover in a sloppy way to also produce leakage. They pointed all these issues out to me and during my wait time they invited to stick around the back with them to visually see their repairs step-by-step. They even took the time to chat with me about life on the open road and offered me fresh brewed coffee and a little later a free lunch (sandwiches supplied by a girlfriend of one of the mechanics)...very awesome!
When all was done, they didn't charge me for much of the work or parts. I basically walked out of there with like a $50 tab (actual cost was much more due to labor time). These guys at Conklin were absolutely fabulous! For the rest of my excursion, the bike held, and has since. These guys put all their other customers on hold to address this issue and did a fantastic & thorough job. Being from out of state, not knowing much about this shop or whether I'd get screwed going there, I left that place with a very different view. I was highly impressed by Conklin Cycles. Although I don't anticipate they give sweet discount deals like this to everyone (otherwise they would be out of business I'm sure), it just goes to show you the extent they went to make my visit there a really good one. They definitely leave you with the assurance your bike is left in good hands and the work will be done right the FIRST time (unlike the shop here in MA). I can't recommend them more! Anytime I'm out that way and need something, I'm definitely looking them up again!

Approx. 3 weeks ago I had Mahopac cycles repair my bike to the tune of $600.00. I dealt with a fella named Rich, who was a pleasure to deal with and knew how to treat me. Experience thus far great.
Saturday, 9-15-01, I stopped in to get a consult on a squeaking from my left front wheel. There were ZERO problems with my bike at this point, other than the mentioned squeak. Two young (16-17 yrs old) mechanics discovered the squeak was from the speedometer drive unit. They opened it up, lubed it with grease, and reassembled the wheel. Mechanic took it for a test ride, returned minutes later reporting now the speedometer doesn't work.
"It's frozen," they tell me upon inspection. "Gone bad." OK, but why all of a sudden? They have to file off two metal wings that engage the wheel so I can ride away. Fine. So I am now left with no squeak and a non-functioning speedometer.
The owner of the shop (name unknown, Rodger maybe?) tries to bill me for one hour labor for, from the work order, "front wheel squeak, lubed speedometer drive, speedometer drive is locked," at $64.35. I asked him how he expected to charge me $64.35 for the privelege of leaving his shop with a non-functioning speedo that was functioning prior to my arrival. He tried to tell me the unit was bad, was ready to go anyways. There is no way he could determine this and was his only (invalid) defense. He further told me he had to charge me because he needs to pay the mechanics (who are paid hourly, not per job as he implied).
He comprimised and said he'd only charge me $30. I reminded him I had just spent $600 with him and asked was he prepared to lose my future business over $30. He remained silent. I very calmly told him how I felt about his behaviour and shared with him my utter disappointment, and also complimented my experience with the shop up to this point. I told him I would no longer patronize his shop, charged the $30 bill and left, after thanking the young fellas who had been more than helpful to me.
His behavior demonstrated poor business management and a gross example of being "penny wise and dollar foolish," especially in light of my previous patronage.
Thank you for the opportunity to share my bad experience. Hopefully others will reconsider dealing with this outfit. There is a fella just down the road from the above shop who once worked there, who now runs his own shop called Scotty's Cycles I believe. If you'd like more details on Scotty's (which I hear good things about) email me and I'll get the pertinent info.

This just outside of Buffalo. Almost New England. It depends on how you ride....
They are a Honda, Suzuki, BMW, & Triumph dealer. I have an '89 Honda Transalp and they actually have parts for it. I'm the second owner of a '94 CBR 1000 my friend bought new there. What earned my devotion was how I always drooled over the Triumph Tiger they had in the showroom for over a year. An odd bike you either love 'em or hate 'em. Brand new it was out of my price range. One day last fall when I was getting a new Metzler MZ4 ( outstanding rubber! ) for the CBR, Chuck the long time owner of the shop told me that the owner of the Tiger was selling it after one season and that I was going to buy it. I blinked and said huh?
After totaling a T595 and getting bored with his Buell S2 the guy was selling the Tiger to
buy another Ducati 900 from a different dealer. Chuck knew the Tiger was for sale
and remembered I loved it. He hooked me up with the present owner for a private
transaction he wasn't going to make a dime off of. Their mechanics are top rate. To get a
state inspection or a tire changed, You go and oggle the showroom for a few minutes while
they scurry about in back. A few minutes later you're on your way. None of this drop off
the bike and call back someday crap.
Good people.

Matt's Honda
Coxsakie, NY
I can recommend Matt's Honda in coxsakie NY. It's a smallish shop which is BIG on personal service. The head mechanic (Dave) is great. His attention to detail is one you won't find anywhere else. I have brought my Gsxr1100 to him for repair many times. They don't even sell Suzuki! He comes right outside the shop to greet me if he sees me pull in and calls me by my name. The parts guy is great too but I can't remember his name right now.
Dave has stayed late on occasion to accommodate my busy schedule. You ever pick your bike up and find greasy finger prints on it? That will not happen at Matt's Honda! This shop and mechanic were recommended to me by a friend 3 years ago. He also has no problem traveling a few extra miles for the personal service. I can't say enough good about these guys in this day and age of the "big non personal shady dealers".
