What?

They might seem like a silly thing to review, but earplugs are important. If you don't wear them, consider this: at speed, the noise level inside a typical full-face helmet will begin causing permanent hearing damage after about 15 minutes. That's wind noise, not engine noise.

If, unlike me, you don't lose small objects like custom-made earplugs, you might try those. For disposables, these are the best I've tried.

I give these away at Dyno Day each year -- I bought several hundred pair through an industrial supplier that SteveD located.

Their noise reduction rating is 33dB, which is about as good as it gets for disposable plugs. I can still converse while wearing them. They fit really well -- my ears anyway. They are bright orange, so they're easy to find if you drop one at a rest/gas stop. Each pair is individually bagged even when you buy them in bulk.

The maker calls them "disposable/reusable." You can throw them in with your laundry in a mesh bag. After a couple washings, though, they don't stay compressed when you roll them, making them tough to insert.

Not much more to say. I always have extra pairs, so if you're on a ride with me and want to try a pair just ask.
